Guitarist Gerry “Phareaux” Felton, a native of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, died January 21 after suffering a heart attack at his home in Albuquerque. He moved to Austin in the 1980s and was co-leader of roots-rockers the Commandos as well as an original member of blues band Omar & the Howlers. He was 58.
