Hearth Holidays: Pokey Lafarge’s Mele Kalikimaka
Road warrior Pokey Lafarge has been traveling the US back and forth this year with his band, the South City Three, bringing his own blend of jukebox jugband mania. Here’s a Merry Christmas video from Pokey and his label, Free Dirt Records!
Hearth Music ran promotion on Pokey’s 2010 CD from Free Dirt Records: Riverboat Soul. If you haven’t heard it yet, we urge you to have a listen on our Listening Lounge: http://www.hearthmusic.com/listening_lounge.html It’s a red-blooded romp through the swampy backwaters of American roots music, anchored by Pokey’s warbly voice and his hot band. Definitely one of our favorite releases of 2010.
Here’s a great video of Pokey’s hit single, “La La Blues”
