Let me say first off, I’m not opposed to pop rock if it’s done right, it’s not my favorite genre but there are a couple of pop rock bands who have impressed me. The thing with pop rock is that you tend to get the same old stuff from brand new bands, it get tiresome after a while. Hedley is a pop rock band that I resisted a few times to write about but I got an email at least once a week about how great their new album is. That right there threw up a red flag, if it’s so great let it speak for itself. I assumed it wouldn’t be anything special.
Well, now I’ve listened to it, I feel I’m right in my assumption, the album doesn’t bring anything to the table, it doesn’t move me at all. When I listened to the album I didn’t even care that it was playing, the only reason I didn’t turn it off is because I felt I needed to listen to the whole album just to make sure I didn’t miss anything, and I did not miss a thing.
Now that you know how I feel about the album, let me just say that this is just my opinion, I look for more than just singing and playing music in a band, it doesn’t matter if it is pop. I’m sure there are people out there who would disagree with me, after all they wouldn’t be signed to a semi-major label if they completely sucked right?
