How we got here….an 82 minute oral history from Chris Hillman
I’ve been meaning to post this for a few weeks now but got distracted and forgot. Over at another blog post within this community there’s been a lively discussion of sorts in regards to Gram Parsons and the latest push to get him to the Country Music Hall of Fame. While I have long been a Gram fan and still listen to his music often, the almost god-like stature many Americana fans have placed upon his memory has escaped me, along with the assertion that he somehow started the entire country-rock movement.
Last October the Library of Congress invited Chris Hillman to come and give a talk about his craft as songwriter and performer. It is much more than that as he takes us on his personal music journey which serves as a fifty year history on how we got to this place.
