For what it’s worth, I’m having tremendous luck in connecting with German and Australian DJ’s to play my music, usually by country music stations. In complete honesty, I don’t think my band is technically country music, more folk-rock with a few newgrass tunes thrown in. DJ’s are taking an expanded view of country music and are willing to play original Americana, including us. Please feel free to contact me for a list of DJ’s and other music reviewers.
Beyond that, a lot of these stations are run by ex pats and retirees who get to host their own show for two hours every week on the regular airwaves, not just the internet (nothing against internet radio, of course). How cool is that? How awesome would it be if just a microscopic percentage of american radio was allowed to function this way? What I wouldn’t give to host two hours a week ….
