“There are some folks who do it on the weekends and some that do it for a living.” said singer/songwriter Dennis Solebee told me recently. One listen to Solesbee’s voice and you know its a been there done that seen it all authentic country western voice. Dennis along with his brother Lewis make up The Solesbee Brothers who are a no whistles and bells but pure 100% country music. At a very young age of 15 Dennis was writing songs and touring with U.S. Male band (Lewis was in the group briefly) then later with Eastern Seaboard Band in the mid to late 70s. In the early 1980’s Dennis was having regional success with Lighting West Band which he was one of the founders. The group toured doing road shows with greats such as John Anderson, Marshall Tucker Band, David Allen Coe, Steve Warner and Johnny Paycheck to name a few. These days Dennis and Lewis keep it close to home in historical Spartanburg SC and do many benefit shows to help out the troops, benefits for lost love ones, or friends who fell victim to the times. Lewis is the guitarist and is the cornbread to Dennis buttermilk. It works and they love to play together. One listen of Dennis voice and its clear its somewhere between Waylon, Veron Goslin and Johnny Cash. This is Americana with songs about life the way it really is, songs about lost love, soldiers, American pride, and good old pick up truck driving music. I recently got some audio of the Brothers for Outlaw Magazine.
