Iris DeMent, Graham Nash Among Americana Music Honors and Awards Honorees

Summer may have just begun, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t already looking forward to AmericanaFest in Nashville, as well as its accompanying Americana Music Honors and Awards. Ahead of the show, the Americana Music Association has just announced this year’s annual Lifetime Achivement honorees, a stacked list that includes Iris DeMent and Graham Nash.

Last month, the Americana Music Association announced the nominations for the show’s other categories, the winners of which will be revealed during the September 13 ceremony at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tenn. Sturgill Simpson leads that pack with three nominations, with Rodney Crowell, Lori McKenna and Drive-By Truckers each notching two. The 2017 ceremony will mark the 16th award show for the association, and will be a highlight of the September 12 – September 17 festival.

Iris DeMent – Americana Trailblazer Award

Hi Rhythm Section – Lifetime Achievement Award for Instrumentalist

Graham Nash – Spirit of Americana Free Speech in Music Award

Larry Sloven and Bruce Bromberg (HighTone Records) – Jack Emerson Lifetime Achievement Award for Executive

Van Morrison – Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting
