Hardchargers,
Even though me and my manager are
barreling through the holidays with business as usual (working
post-production stuff for The Sinner and releasing the new record) I’m
also enjoying time with the family. Since my Pops passed away, my
family down in Beaumont (Mom, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc..) is coming
to Austin since the kids (me, my brother & sister) all live here.
It’s never really the same but it’s ok, things change, it’s part of
life.
Tuesday the 21st, my new record “One For The Dance Halls” comes out everywhere. We’d like to thank all the Hardchargers who pre-ordered it from jessedayton.com
for Christmas. The deal where you get the LP vinyl, the CD, the
downloads, and the “Christmas In Jail” song all for $25 bucks is still
available. The record is already getting a good buzz, and it feels
great to have some new material out. We’ll be doing a record-release
party at the Broken Spoke next month, where I’ll literally play the
whole new record start to finish.
Check out the new Houston Chronicle article on my music and film career by writer Andrew Dansby. The Chronicle still holds me as one of Houston’s own. Considering my history there
(starting as a session guitarist for producer Huey P. Meaux…record
crowds with the Road Kings…breaking out nationally on Justice Records
with my solo career…playing the very last public show at
Rockefellers…and the list goes on) at some point I’m still going to
buy a place there (or on the coast in Galveston) just to be closer to my
Astros. (what a piss-poor season!)
Speaking of Houston…we just confirmed a show at DISCOVERY GREEN downtown for NEW YEARS EVE which will be broadcast live locally on ABC television. This is gonna be a
great show!
This week I play one show only at the BROKEN SPOKE from 9-12 on THURS. NIGHT in AUSTIN.
Then I’m hanging with my family & friends all weekend. Where would I be without these people? As a musician (or for anybody in the
entertainment business for that matter) the public never hears about the
stuff that falls through. My friends and family are there for me no
matter what…good news or bad news. As Mickey Ward says in the new
movie “The Fighter,” “never count anyone out.” Hey, you just never,
ever know?
Alright ya’ll, have a Merry Christmas, a Happy Hanukkah, and any other way you celebrate this holiday. Best to you and your families!
Onward,
JD
p.s. big thanks to Outlaw Country DJ Mojo Nixon on XM/Sirius satellite radio for playing “Christmas In Jail” on the radio!!!
