Joe Fletcher and the Wrong Reasons – Zeppa Auditorium (Rochester, NY – 23 Apr 2014)
Recently I had the pleasure to see Joe Fletcher and the Wrong Reasons open up for the Devil Makes Three in Rochester. I’ve seen DM3 a bunch of times, but I always make sure to catch their touring openers. It’s usually another good band. Joe Fletcher was no exception.
Their live setup was acoustic guitar, telecaster, fiddle, bass, and of course vocals. Although they have drums on the record, there was no live percussion. It didn’t matter because the 4-piece was super tight. They came off as a very seasoned bunch of live performers. They played a pretty long set for an opener chocked full of americana with an old school country feel.
Joe has great stage presence, easily getting the crowd into it what the band was doing. The record doesn’t really do them justice compared to their live show. The fantastic set they put on lead a lot of people straight to their merch table to pick up CD’s, where Joe and the band were to meet new fans afterwards.
They are another act that’s hard to put into one genre, but if you dig old school country singer-songwriter kind of stuff – you’d probably dig them. Well worth catching a live gig.
