Jolie Holland and Samantha Parton Premiere Soulful New Song “Make It Up to Me”
Be Good Tanyas founders Jolie Holland and Samantha Parton have a rich musical history, but they’ve yet to release an album as a duo. That’s about to change with the impending release of their album Wildflower Blues. Billed as “North Americana and outsider folk,” the forthcoming collection sees the duo exploring a number of their musical influences through seven original songs and covers of tunes by the likes of Townes Van Zandt and Michael Hurley.
One of those new original songs is “Make It Up to Me,” a powerful bluesy ballad that the duo had originally hoped would be recorded by another artist.
“This is one of those magic-act songs that we pulled out of thin air in few hours,” Holland says. “When we finished writing it, we had hopes of sending the demo to Sharon Jones, but she left us shortly thereafter.”
Wildflower Blues is out September 8. The pair will embark on an extensive tour at the end of the year.
