Kindred Records to release new CD with Cumberland Gap Connection
Irvine, KY (Sep. 30, 2010) – Kindred Records has signed a record deal with Kentucky &
Tennessee Bluegrass group Cumberland Gap Connection.
Cumberland Gap Connection’s new project “A Whole Lotta Lonesome” is scheduled for
release in January 2011, and the first single “Ode To The Mountain Man” is now available
for digital release to DJ’s on AirPlayDirect. A CD single for mailing is also planned for radio
programmers that desire that format. The project will include 12 tracks, with 7 original
songs by CGC band members.
“Ode To The Mountain Man” was written by band leader and lead vocalist Mike Bentley
and tells the story straight and true about what it means to be a “Mountain Man.” With
strong emotional feelings, vocal impact, and powerful harmonies this project is directly
from the mountains of East Kentucky and Tennessee. Cumberland Gap Connection band
members are Mike Bentley – guitar/lead vocals, Rod Smith – banjo/vocals, Clint Hurd –
mandolin/vocals, and Bryan Russell – bass/vocals
Cumberland Gap Connection is a highly energetic bluegrass band with a sound all their
own, and strive to take their driving style of bluegrass to the next level with aggressive
instrumentation and distinctive vocal harmony style. CGC’s most recent project entitled
“Grandpa’s Swing”, was met with much success, as the song “Gravel Springs” was in the
Top 10 on the Bluegrass Now Fan’s Choice Top 20 charts eight of nine months, earning
the No. 1 spot in bluegrass for the months of July and September in 2008. While
continuing in the tradition of playing some of the “old standard” songs in bluegrass, CGC
prides themselves in performing as much original material as possible. The band does this
not only for the sake of being different, but just to be who they are, musicians with the
common goal of pleasing fans and promoters by doing what they love to do.
“A Whole Lotta Lonesome” was recorded and engineered at The Curve in Cumberland
Gap, TN by Bryan Turner and Steve Gulley, with additional recording and engineering at
Hot Rod Studio in Belfry, KY by Rod Smith and Mike Bentley, and mixing and mastering
by Ron Stewart.
Kindred is pleased to add Cumberland Gap Connection’s new project “A Whole Lotta
Lonesome” to its catalog of Kentucky artists. For bookings and more information visit their
