Hank Williams was the king of country soul
My daddy took me to see him in Lubbock but he didn’t show
Now the people got mad and they all went home
The first thing we did was put his records on
I guess, we should have left him alone and let him sing his song
Leave Them Boys Alone by Gary Stewart, Dean Dillon, Hank Williams, Jr., and Tanya Tucker
Now that I’ve had a little time to think it through, there was no other way the evening could end. But I didn’t see it coming when I bought our tickets. Todd Snider was in our town last night playing Duling Hall, a small performance hall converted from an old school auditorium, with a bar in the back (more on that bar later).
The evening was supposed to be a threefer (that rhymes with reefer, just as an aside). We were to screen a movie, East Nashville Tonight, hear a reading of Snider’s new book, I Never Met A Story I Didn’t Like, and then Snider would play a show.
