Los Caballo Loco
A lot of times you go to a concert and suffer through the opening act but that won’t be the case for the next leg of the Neil Young and Crazy Horse tour.
Beginning Nov. 10 in Seattle and continuing across Canada Los Lobos will open for Young. playing its own crisp brand of rock and roll. A lot of their music is in Spanish but that won’t matter to most listeners. Compare that to Bob Dylan, or even Young at times. You can’t hear a word they’re saying and you only understand them because you’re familiar with the record.
I saw Los Lobos over the summer (Cesar Rosas pictured at right) and loved the sound and spirit even though most of the songs were unfamiliar. Except for one toward the end of the show, a rousing letter-perfect copy of “Cinnamon Girl.” Here’s hoping that Neil takes that song out of his regular set and joins the wolves for a once-in-a-lifetime howl.
