Martha Wainwright-“Come Home To Mama” & October 11, 2012 Performance at Le Poisson Rouge
If anyone can be said to be the daughter of Americana royalty it is Martha Wainwright. While her parents songs will never be heard on ‘American Idol’ or ‘Nashville’ they are considered standards in the circles I roam. I remember early in my writing days bugging my contact at Warners to get an early copy of Kate & Anna’s second album that I was sent an early test pressing (which I still have). And who could forget Louden’s early ‘Motel Blues’: ‘In this town television shuts off at two/What’s a lonely rock & roller to do?/Come up to my motel room, save my life.’
