Dowling Press has reissued David Goodman’s Modern Twang: An Alternative Country Music Guide & Directory. (It makes a kind of series with the No Depression anthology published by Dowling, so, yes, there’s a conflict of interest here.) Goodman has updated and expanded his helpful encyclopedia, and Dowling has added a fine cover (and done away with Goodman’s comb binding), though it still wants for a copy editor and suffers the blind spots inevitable to an encyclopedia undertaken by a sole editor/writer.
