The first thing you see on MONOTONIX’s website is a picture of singer AMI SHALEV gripping the neck of a guitar between his teeth with the most batshit insane look in his eyes, and that is your first hint of the lunacy behind the Israeli trio’s no holds barred live shows that are simply not to be missed. The band has just released their sophomore effort, the aptly titled Where Were You When It Happened?, with local imprint Drag City adding a dash of extra chutzpah to their swaggering, shredding metal-meets-garage-rock that is dripping with years of sweat mopped up from a Detroit basement in the 70s.
There are plenty of cities they are stopping in, so check them out if. They are one of the best live bands I have ever seen.
