Mount Moriah – “Lament”
Earlier last week a reader recommended that I listen to Mount Moriah, so I did and I’m so thankful!
Mount Moriah is Jenks Miller and Heather McEntire, who came together, played around with their sound and created an alt-country, folk, and gospel-influenced style that can clearly be heard on their newest single, “Lament.” Its emotional lyrics sung by McEntire in an oddly infectious Dolly Parton-esque warble, backed by some clean finger-picking, a soft organ, and haunting harmonies makes for an absolutely stunning song. The track’s subtle awesomeness seems to quietly creep inside my head, took up residence, and then just took over my entire mind, and before I even realized it, I had been pressing the “repeat” button for about an hour. This catchy dirge will be on Mount Moriah’s debut self-titled album, which is due to hit shelves on April 12th.
