New Blogger Introduction: Draw Us Lines
Last night I had the good fortune to be interviewed by Draw Us Lines, a newish music blog based out of Pittsburgh, PA. They have a segment called “A Few Pints” where they take bands out for beers and interview them about their music, their plans, their love for 80s rock, etc, etc… So I sat down with Jim Sabol over a plate of pierogies and dollar beers at the Bloomfield Bridge Tavern and talked about the new Boca Chica album, the Kickstarter project, the Pittsburgh music scene, the past, the future, and Jim’s love for Huey Lewis. Jim just donated to the Boca Kickstarter fund and was considering the possibility of putting in for our $425 level which gets you a song written by myself on the topic of your choice. Jim had the most grand, far-reaching idea for a concept song that I may have ever heard: a 15 minute track inspired by the 1983 Huey Lewis and News release, Sports. Wow. I told him that I had already written a commissioned song on the topic of Algeria and soccer, and so felt that I was up to the challenge.
In other Kickstarter news– we are two thirds of the way to our goal! This morning, Mr. Jacob Liechty put in a request for a song about Dublin or Bamako or possibly Goshen, Indiana. Gears are turning on that one. I’ll keep you posted.
In the meantime, check out other Draw Us Lines interviews with Big Hurry and Goodnight, States.
