May 21 is the release date for the new record from Dave Alvin. Because of Chris Gaffney’s passing Dave Alvin’s put together a group of Guilty Women to replace his Guilty Men band. I think all that estrogen has an effect on the sound as well – don’t expect as many rockers as you would have got with the Guilty Men. I would link to a song from the new record here but I’m guessing the folks at No Depression would rather not deal with the legalities of a potentially unwelcome early leak of the song “Potter’s Field”.
