Colbie Caillat joined us in Nashville to share two songs from her new album, Along the Way, and a fan favorite from her second album, Breakthrough, during the No Depression Sessions at AmericanaFest 2023, shot at Jaan’s House.
Caillat’s session kicks off with “Worth It,” the first single from her new album, which came out earlier this month. She tells us it is an album about love, framed through the lens of an especially challenging breakup. The breakup in question is just far enough in the rearview that Caillat can reflect on the relationship’s upsides instead of only focusing on the hurt, she says. “As time goes by,” she explains, “you realize all the beauty you learned from that experience, and you get excited about what’s to come.”
All three of the songs in this No Depression Session feature tasty and tasteful licks from Jonathan Wyndham on acoustic guitar and background vocals and Gideon Klein on dobro. “I’ll Be Here” is up second, arranged as a duet with Sheryl Crow on Along the Way. Caillat rounds out the set with “I Never Told You” from Breakthrough.
