The holiday season is officially here, which means the music industry tends to slow down drastically. No Depression has already compiled our annual Holiday Music That Doesn’t Suck playlist, but there’s still plenty of music from November and December that’s worth listening to between the jingling bells and Joni Mitchell “River” covers.
The Spotlight artists from both of these months, Jaime Wyatt for November and Rainbow Girls for December, are great places to start. Additionally, these colder months saw hot new releases from country stalwarts like Dolly Parton and Chris Stapleton, as well as newer artists like soulful folk-rocker Lilli Lewis (who was included in our Spring 2023 journal) and operatic country singer Bonnie Montgomery (who has performed at the FreshGrass Festival in Bentonville, produced by the FreshGrass Foundation, No Depression‘s nonprofit publisher).
