September is always a busy month for the roots music community, with AMERICANAFEST, IBMA World of Bluegrass, and of course, FreshGrass | North Adams (presented by No Depression‘s nonprofit publisher, the FreshGrass Foundation) happening consecutively. Many musicians who have played FreshGrass, this year and in previous years, released new albums this month — Molly Tuttle, Jake Blount, Amy Helm, Willie Watson, Jerry Douglas, and more. Additionally, the beginning of fall brought tunes from Spotlight artist JD McPherson, indie sensation MJ Lenderman, and bluegrass phenom Billy Strings.
