Nominees Announced for the 2017 Americana Music Awards
The Americana Music Association today announced nominations for the 2017 Americana Music Awards from the Ford Theater at the Country Music Hall of Fame. With their wry humor — “most of these nominees won’t be winners” — the Milk Carton Kids hosted the event. The afternoon featured a Drive-by Truckers acoustic reunion, along with performances by Caitlin Canty, the Jerry Douglas Band, Jason Isbell, and the Milk Carton Kids.
After thanking the afternoon’s sponsors, AMA executive director Jed Hilly told the audience that the AMA will announce this Friday a performance by an artist, “well-known to both rock and Americana audiences,” that will take place at Ascend Amphitheater during this year’s Americana Music Festival, Sept. 12-17.
Winners of the Americana Music Awards will be announced at a ceremony on Sept. 13 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.
