Well now, 2011 is off to a great start for all things Deli, sonically speaking 😉
In case you missed it – Jim’s Armstrong’s new album JUNCTION ROAD is out! Find it here on itunes or over here at CD Baby.
Jim’s hellbilly hit, Dollars In His Wallet is currently featured in the front page music player over at
NO DEPRESSION (the granddaddy site of all things Roots & Americana!) – scroll down their homepage to the bottom and treat yourself to a musical smorgasboard.
And then of course you’ll still be hungry and that’s when you must treat yourself to a double helping of PANCAKE WEDNESDAY FLOUR POWER HOUR over at WLSO.FM to hear Uncle Shag’s choice offerings served up on the Longtown Sound podcasts. Episode 1063 kicks off with such an amazing intro about us and Jim’s music and his new track, Darlin’ that we were fair near to blushin’! Then dang if Uncle Shag
didn’t bring Jim and his song Sanctify back the following week for a second helping on episode 1065. And – wait for it – third time’s the charm as Unc spins Worn Out Shoes on Longtown Sound’s WEEKEND POWER HOUR episode 1067.
Meanwhile, our friend Jersey Joe chose Jim’s Foolish Crime as the Pick to Click for the week of January 4, 2011
and the Indie Music Sampler has added Worn Out Shoes to their internet radio playlist and introduces the song on podcast episode 216.
We recently posted a new video of Jim and the Sonic Deli Band having some fun with a song (Utopia) at Epilepsy Toronto’s Holday Feast. Jim has yet to release the studio version of this crowd pleasing tune and whenever he performs it live he changes up the story line a little bit; sometimes darker, sometimes not. Check it out here
Finally some “music to our ears” with a great testimonial all the way from Spain!
“Joaquin Lopez Diaz, rock and Roll Circus, Spain: “Junction Road” is up in my list of favourite albums of 2010 in the Americana/Roots genre. Classic, mature, sensitive songwriting from a true fighter in life and REAL Rock’n’Roll. In a perfect world songs like “When I Kiss You” would be monster radio hits. PURE MAGIC. “Sanctify” sends me shivers at the spine. Graham Parker would die for this ballad. “Dollars In His Wallet” is cowpunk to the bone, hillbilly mayhem. I love the whole album – I think it is one of the best Americana/Roots pieces of the year. Classic stuff.”
Lots more coming – reviews and radio spins so stay tuned for more exciting announcements.
