‘Poor David’s Almanack’ on the Way from David Rawlings
Here’s some news that should have your Monday looking up: David Rawlings has a new album coming out this summer. Poor David’s Almanack — which the Nashville-based songwriter, musician, and producer will release as David Rawlings (rather than the “Dave Rawlings Machine” of his previous albums) — is slated for an August 11 release date via his and Gillian Welch’s label Acony Records.
Rawlings recruited an all-star roster of guest musicians for the 10-track album, including Taylor and Griffin Goldsmith of Dawes, Paul Kowert, Brittany Haas, Ketch Secor, and Willie Watson. As is typical of Rawlings’ releases, Welch will also feature prominently. The bunch recorded the album at Woodland Sound Studios with Matt Andrews and Ken Scott.
Poor David’s Almanack is Rawlings’ third album under his own name and his eighth studio project with Welch. It’s the follow-up to 2015’s Nashville Obsolete. Check out the album’s track list and a handful of new Dave Rawlings Machine tour dates below.
