Ray Wylie Hubbard’s first Festival Grit n Groove in Luckenbach Texas
It’s been a long time coming. It’s not that Ray has never been asked to do a festival. It’s just that Ray likes to do things his way. So far, he has made some pretty good choices. He has a successful music career that spans decades. Most recently, he has written a screenplay which was filmed in Canada this past year by an Indie. Can’t wait to see what comes of that.
Ray Wylie Hubbard hand picked the location and the line up for Grit N Groove. The festival has his stamp all over it. He chose artists he respects. Artist’s that are his friends and artists that he likes to play with. Ray had one criteria that he held fast .. whoever plays has to have that “grit, that groove” That very thing we all love about Ray.
Luckenbach proved to be the perfect spot. Ray has been a long time friend and favored performer of the Legendary hill country town. Luckenbach may not be a lot of things, (it’s what’s not there that is there) but it is certainly Gritty and Groovey! Ray feels comfortable in Luckenbach. It’s got that thing, that vibe. He can move freely around town and people don’t bother him. After all, you just never know who might be walking around or sittin’ under the oaks pickin’ a few tunes. Musicians are everywhere, it’s what makes Luckenbach cool.
The Festival is April 4th, 2009. 2pm til we’re done! The line up goes something like this.. Sam Baker, Gurf Morlix, Charlie Sexton, Omar Dykes, Hayes Carll, Band of Heathens, Ray Wylie, and Patty Griffin. General admission tickets for the dancehall are still available. When they are all gone, we will offer grounds only general admission. The show will have more of an acoustic vibe with The Heathens and Ray rockin out with full bands in the evening.
