• RE: new Hayes Carll…Anyone Know what’s up with folks at Lost Highway?

    Buddy of mine in Radio just played me an advance of  Hayes Carll’s  new KMAG YOYO  (a military acronym for Kiss My Ass, Guys, You’re On Your Own)and its Tremendous!

     

    Every bit as good as Trouble In Mind – maybe even better. Wry and Heartfelt. This was the kind of solid Americana release that would  definately show up in Best Of Year lists and help give some buzz to such a well-deserved songwriter. With the timeliness of the “Grateful For Christmas” tune (a post 911- Merry Christmas from the Family- to which it will be most likely compared),  why wasnt this released this past fall? Would’ve  made sense unless album wasnt finished or Hayes wanted to wait till Spring to tour w/o possible weather issues. I hope it wasnt a pencil pusher at UMG/Lost Highway label not wanting to crowd out other weaker Americana releases (sorry Ryan B.) Typically Lost Highway’s been pretty “spot-on” with A&R & their artists.
