‘Rebel’ Rod’s Ramblings and other things – Things Change & Truckstop Darlin’ from Portland, Oregon

I have a confession to make.
It was fun for a while, but lately it has become to damn hard to find a song representing each day of the week. I didn’t have the foresight to see that there was, in fact, not an endless supply of songs representing each day.
For instance; Tuesday is just sad. There are shamefully few tunes out there to represent this day. There are three or four more that I found that do represent the day, but like the day itself, they are a little boring, certainly not up to the standards of this blog!
There is The Rolling Stones’ “Ruby Tuesday”, but that tune has been done to death, and as most would undoubtedly agree, not even close to being one of their best songs. I think you get the picture.
There is “Stormy Monday (but Tuesday’s Just as Bad)”, but lets face it. The song is really about stormy Mondays and just like “Ruby Tuesday”, has been done to death. Great song, but over the decades, just like Lynard Skynard’s “Freebird”, has become an invasion on my inner ear!
Therefore, from this day forward, every day of the week is simply going to be represented by a different tune every day, not necessarily containing anything in the title or the lyrics about said day.
It is my blog and I get to declare anything I want. I don’t mean to be arrogant about it, but, well I guess I do, but I think after all this explaining, everyone involved will be the happier for the decision that has been made.
In addition, if you the readers can think of a tune that I have missed, any tune that would be representative of this site, feel free to suggest it here in a comment or simply email it to me. Remember, a blog is meant to be interactive and even though my tracking suggests I have a small but loyal following, I hear from very few of you.
Okay, that is certainly enough out of me. Now, enjoy Tuesday’s song from Portland, Oregon’s own Truckstop Darlin’ performing their tune, “Broken Valentine” live. The band members are John Phelan – Vocals,Guitar, Eric Kotila – Drums, Nick Foltz – Bass, Vocals, and Michael Winter – Pedal Steel.
I predict we are all going to be hearing a lot more from this great new band from the Great Northwest!
