Roots Supergroup Jamtown Recruits Robert Randolph for New Track “Pick It Up”
As if the trio of Donovan Frankenreiter, G. Love, and Cisco Adler — collectively known as Jamtown — isn’t enough to get your attention, the band has just recruited two of music’s best guitarists for a new tune from their forthcoming self-titled debut EP.
Robert Randolph and Duane Betts (son of Dickey Betts) join the trio on “Pick It Up,” a harmony heavy love song made all the more affecting by Randolph’s ethereal pedal steel. “[‘Pick It Up’] is the ultimate engagement song, with two amazing guitar slingers, Robert Randolph and Duane Betts,” Frankenreiter says. “It’s one of my favorite love songs that I have ever been a part of and one of my favorites to play live.”
All three members of Jamtown are known for their previous solo efforts — Frankenreiter for his breezy surf-inspired roots pop, G. Love for an infectious take on world-infused jams, and Adler for both his work as a songwriter and his work as a producer. The trio first joined forces musically in late 2016.
The Jamtown EP is out June 23. Listen to “Pick It Up” below.
