Rosanne Cash, Jason Isbell, More Earn Americana Music Awards Nominations
The Americana Music Association’s annual awards show – and the conference and festival which thereby ensue – is easily one of the most interesting, entertaining, and comprehensive events of the year, shedding light on this indescribable style of music we all love. Though the conference itself is focused on artists and industry types, the awards show and festival are open to the public. Some of the most impressive collaborations and one-off performances I’ve seen in the last several years of being affiliated with ND, have taken place on the Ryman Stage during AMA Awards night. So, it is with great relish that I look forward to this year’s festivities, especially considering the impressive – and remarkably versatile – list of nominees below.
These nominations were announced today (May 12, 2014) during a ceremony streamed live via Music City Roots. Unofficial kings of Americana – Buddy Miller and Jim Lauderdale – were on hand to help out, as were Valerie June, Parker Millsap, and others. (Miller heads the AMA house band, while Lauderdale hosts the awards show each year.)
Scroll through this year’s nominees and see what you think. The Americana Music Association Festival and Conference (and awards show) will take place in Nashville, Tenn., Sep. 17-21, 2014. More information is available at the AMA Website.
