The Truth About Sarah Shook.
The truth about Sarah Shook is that I can’t write about her. I’ve tried for 4 months to come up with something I can tell you that will explain how special she is or how much we need her not only in the world of music… but in the world, in general. I have written, re-written, and trashed more articles than I can count. I’ve laughed and cried for months listening to her music and reading about her. I’ve nearly hit the “publish” button 6 times, only to close the laptop and go back into hibernation over the fact that I will never be able to do right by her. It has challenged me in ways that I didn’t want to be challenged in. And I am grateful. I give. I surrender. The truth about Sarah Shook is that her message and her mission are far too important for me to take on, for I could never do them justice. What I will attempt to do, though, is entice you into knowing for yourself. If I share with you some facts lined with my passion for her music, maybe you’ll grab a hold of this voice and talent. That is my wish.

The girl singer with the lonesome warble that will make you wonder exactly what it is you are hearing as you go back in time after time to hear more.

The songwriter whom I’ve seen compared to John Prine for writing from the perspective of the opposite sex, and Steve Earle for taking on a “take no prisoners” attitude to tell a story that will leave your heart bleeding and your mind re-thinking.
The activist who honestly doesn’t care whether or not you like her music, but cares a great deal whether or not you are tolerant of other humans and respectful to all living creatures.
The front woman of Sarah Shook & The Disarmers who released their album, SIDELONG, in October of 2015 which turned up on Indie, Country, and Americana “Best of ’15” lists worldwide. The reviews, articles, interiews, and local & internet radio play followed. I must also add that the engineering and production of this album are undeniably stellar on every level.
