Singing AT People @ The West Seattle Festival
When we arrived for the meet and greet at the Bumbershoot booth we did not know what to expect. We were met with warmth and excitement from the staff there. The booth was set up with a spinning prize wheel to hand out bumbershoot merch like buttons and iron-ons. Justin was smart enough to bring his guitar and Travis suggested making one of the prizes on the wheel a song from me and Justin. It was a hit… making people uncomfortable, that is. We started by playing a full Beatles song AT someone, before deciding to cut it down to a verse and a chorus so people only had to stand there looking confused and embarrassed for a minute instead of three. We did have a few fans that enjoyed being accosted by Baby’s In Black or Don’t Let Me Down. My favorite moment is a tossup. There was the group of 12yr old boys, all excited and goofy about spinning the wheel and winning the best prize, one upping each other, and the poor boy who won a song from us… he was not pleased, though his friends were. Then there were the group of teenage girls. Justin insisted we play Run For Your Life, not realizing I was going to have to sing “I’d rather see you dead little girl…” to a group of, well, little girls. All in all it was a success! We had a great time and appreciate the Bumbershoot booth for having us! Keith was on top of things and handed out a ton of new Star Anna stickers, mostly to children 10 and under. Future fans…
We’ll be playing Bumbershoot September 4th @ 1pm on the Mural Stage! Don’t miss it!
