Steve in Telluride #1: Touchdown!
Hello from Telluride! I’m Steve, and I’ll be blogging live from the Telluride Bluegrass Festival for the next four days. My brother, Shane, and I arrived in town this afternoon, via St. Louis, MO, and Columbus, OH, respectively, and have now set up shop in the Warner Campground adjacent to the festival grounds.
Telluride is, although I’ve been here many times, even more gorgeous than I remember—we could see three waterfalls as we pulled into town, and our tents are nestled on three sides by immense mountain peaks. It’s a mild partly-cloudy 64 degrees today, and the place is buzzing with people constructing campsites, picking instruments, playing Frisbee, cooking, and partying enthusiastically. We’re going to spend a little time rambling through the lively, tradition-steeped Town Park Campground, just next door, and I’ll report on our findings in the morning.
Remember, if you couldn’t be here this year, you can tune into the music from the TBF at www.koto.org, and I’ll be reporting on the music every 2-3 hours from the stage, starting tomorrow around noon, MST. Check the full lineup at http://www.bluegrass.com/telluride.
