Brian Wright’s latest album Rattle Their Chains, is a lush and velvety triumph of analogue roots rock and roll. I don’t say “roots” so much as a euphemism for a band with a banjo and period costumes with suspenders and snappy caps, but rather, to say this album encapsulates the sounds and feelings from that liminal phase where a multitude of uniquely American musical genres from hillbilly to holy music evolved into the early days of rock and roll.
The Uni(One)-Verse(Song)video above delves into “Rosalee” in such astonishing detail that it captures the story and song so completely that it would be foolish to try to add to that with words alone. That’s great for a video, but as a writer, you have, let’s call it an urge, to umm… write things, but at this point anything else I added would just be pissing in the corner to leave my scent.
