SXSW 2013 Snapshot — Jay Nash & Joshua Day
Just a few short notes here….. We were able to catch Jay Nash, a superb singer songwriter currently from Vermont along with Joshua Day, a rightfully established drummer now living in Nashville, as they make some rounds here in Austin this year.
Their actual showcase is Wednesday, 3/13, at the White Horse at 9:00 pm – a great venue and time. Check them out. You might be blown away.
Though we missed their gig that was part of Adam Duritz’ Outlaw Roadshow we were able to see them at the newly located One2One Club on South Lamar, and Jay’s relationship with owners Destiny and Greg goes back many years. Their mutual respect was obvious.
Besides hearing some of our favorites like Unshakable, Oogly Boogly, and Til I Get Through, we were able to hear many of the cuts on his new CD, Letters From The Lost, due out in May. It absolutely sounds like a keeper.
Josh Day took time from his own busy schedule to join Jay for a few days. He is a regular with Sara Bareilles and The Kruger Brothers, and can be seen with other bands as well at many of our nation’s key festivals. Growing up in Wilkesboro, NC with Doc Watson as a neighbor may have started his musical career on its way.
Here are just a few pictures and notes. More SXSW notes to come this week….
