• The Allman Brothers Band May 13

    Caught the Allman Brothers Band last night at the magnificently renovated Fox Theater in Oakland. Gets my vote for the best venue in the Bay Area now. The setting was perfect as Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks came down from some other planet to carry us away. To quote my friend Paul…”this is ridiculous”. The first half of the show left us drained with Whipping Post and the second half ended with a half hour or so In Memory of Elizabeth Reed. Roaring crowd and the band soared through an encore of Southbound before sending us home. The 3 1/2 hours felt like 10 minutes.
