The Glade City Rounders Rock it on Their First Tour of 2015
On January 8, the Glade City Rounders loaded up bright and early, and tood off down I-40 towards Knoxville, to play on WDVX’s Blue Plate Special. Upon arrival, they were informed the other act (other half of the Blue Plate Special) would not be appearing, so they would be performingi the whole hour. Milly Cavender, their fill in bassist for this tour, met the guys at the Knoxville Visitor’s Center to kick off the tour.
The Glade City Rounders played a rip roarin’ set of tunes, and the crowd was on their feet. After the Blue Plate Special, the guys headed over to Asheville on the 9th, to perform at a packed Jack of the Wood. This was a great show. There was a packed house, and the crowd was definitely feeling the energy of the Glade City Rounders. They went on around 11pm, and played until around 12:30.
On Saturday, January 10, the guys got up early and headed to Johnson City. There, they stopped by to see their buddy David Carter over at the Studio One Radio Hour at WETS. There they played and talked for an hour with David, and had a blast. One of the coolest things was hearing David tell about all their musical influences playing in the same room and chairs in which the Glade City Rounders were now sitting.
Their last stop took them to the Acoustic Coffeehouse in Johnson City, where they played for another packed out show. Once again, the openers did not make it, so the Glade City Rounders took the whole show on, and wowed the crowed with their instrumentation and antics. Everywhere they seem to go, the Glade City Rounders are catching on fast, and their reputations as world class musicians is starting to preceed them.
Their next show is February 10, 2015 at the 5 Spot in Nashville, TN. Then they’re off to the John Hartford Memorial Festival for a weekend of fun.
