The Highway Woman Brigitte London
It’s been five or six years ago now and it sure doesn’t seem that long. I was writing stuff for the sake of writing stuff on topics such as music and life in general. I wasn’t doing it for anyone or to get any kinda praise yet it was more therapy than anything. Faith would have things I was and always will be a huge Roger Alan Wade fan and thru Roger I met Brigitte London who was also a singer/songwriter. One day I get a message and she asked did I want to be a part of Outlaw Magazine. It was a no brainier and didn’t even sleep on it to answer “Yes I do!“. Now, every sense I have jumped on board I have grown to know Brig as a human being who has one of the greatest souls ever. Brigitte’s journey has not always been easy one yet she shines on regardless of outcome.
She is a renaissance woman who is a road warrior for advocating honest music. A lady of many hats that include singer/songwriter, radio DJ, music journalist, Booker, editor, advocate, and the most important being friend. The past few years she has taken me under her wing to say and taught me many of things and tricks on all of her jobs she does. I have taken it all in like a sponge and absorbed every bit of knowledge. The lady who is known to many as The Highway Woman has used her kindred spirit along with her gypsy soul to shed light to many. Brigitte London style is somewhere tween rock, folk, story telling and traditional country music with a authentic soulful voice that’s been there and done that. The power and soulfulness of her voice is an invitation to the listener’s own self discovery. .She has has earned the attention of Nashville A-listeners in the past but, has remained indie to keep creative control. With six albums under her belt and a new one soon to be released The Highway Woman continues to eat up the white lines on the highway while living for something all she ever wanted and that would be music.
The songwriter from Texas will always follow her dreams no matter how far or crazy they seem while sacrificing to make these things a reality. Always singing and writing songs and emptying her tank is The Highway Woman way. The new record and a new book is on the way and I couldn’t be happier for her as the future is looking bright with new projects. I consider her a friend to the end more than anything. Thank you for taking this old Hayseed under your wing and the places and people It has brought me. I am forever in debt to you.
