The Prolific Mr. Lauderdale
It would be easy to call Jim Lauderdale, “Mr. Americana.” The perennial host of the Americana Music Awards has been putting out nearly an album a year (sometimes more) since 1998. And this year is now exception with two more albums scheduled for release by year’s end.
The first one up is Carolina Moonrise, which marks his fourth collaboration with frequent Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter. The two have crafted a fresh dozen new bluegrass tunes for this CD that is the follow up effort to their 2011 Grammy-nominated Rhyme And Reason. Compass Records has Carolina Moonrise ready for a Sept. 25 release.
Then on December 11, New West Records will put out Buddy & Jimmy, the long-awaited collaboration between Lauderdale and his longtime friend, and fellow Americana icon, Buddy Miller. For this duets disc, the two have fashioned a Fifties-style country album stocked with covers and originals. The two will also being hosting a SiriusXM radio show on the Outlaw Country channel.
