The Secret Sisters burst out of Mussel Shoals
More than a few neck hairs stood on end when sisters Laura and Lydia Rogers began to sing during T Bone Burnett’s recent performances at Hard Strictly Bluegrass and the Speaking Clock Revue. Barely in their twenties, the two songbird sibs instantly won over crowds with their deeply felt renditions of Americana classics like “Big River” and “Why Baby Why?”.
The music is easy to like from the get go, but don’t let that fool you. The talent and soul of these two women is wide and deep. Raised singing in the church like so many others, their stylings branched out to embrace country and torch singers of the 40’s and 50’s.
The time is ripe for the Secret Sisters
Pull up a chair and listen awhile. You’ll be glad you did.
