It has been confirmed by the New York Times that Vic Chesnutt died Friday afternoon, at age 45, due to an apparent overdose of muscle relaxants.
I had posted here that he was in a coma on Thursday morning after reading the information on a forum on Kristen Hersh’s website, and updated the post late Thursday night after reading reports that he had passed away. That information turned out to be erroneous at the time and I apologize for the error. I have started a forum discussion on the topic of accuracy in reporting if you’re interested in taking up that discussion please do so there.
