You ever wonder what that song would sound like if….
I’ll warn you from the outset that this post is slightly off-topic. None of the artists featured herein would normally be found on No Depression and wouldn’t be even if these versions of their songs were legit. Still, through the magic of Twitter I recently (meaning 20 minutes ago) discovered a guy named Andy Rehfeldt who as a hobby (career?) turns today’s pop songs into something slightly heavier while also turning edgier material into something safe for the Radio Disney crowd.
I think these two videos make the case perfectly that the main problem with today’s top 40 is that it just needs a little bit of edge.
But what if you’re on the other side of the aisle? You like your music a bit less in-your-face. You’re not a metal fan, but still want to appreciate the talents of guys like Ozzy Osbourne. Well, Mr. Rehfeldt has you covered there as well.
But what if you choose none of the above? What if you want to hear last year’s biggest hit turned into some weird minor key amalgam of country, jazz, hip-hop, and….reggae? Well, last but not least, there’s this.
Back to serious music tomorrow. I promise.
