Final Europe Concert Of Emmylou Harris And Rodney Crowell
Last night Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell finished their European Tour 2013. I had the chance to see five shows this year and I can say – Hamburg was the absolute best. When they left the stage after their second encore (they didn’t play two encores elsewhere) you could see, how surprised the musicians were to see such an euphoriphal and thankful audience.
On the other hand, the audience could truly feel, how much fun this musicians had on stage this night.
Emmylou Harris always had a good taste in finding wonderful musicians all over the years of her career. So this Band (The Road Dogs) is no exception. There are Steve Fishell on pedal steel and dobro, Byron House on electric bass and upright bass. Both very experienced musicians. Then there is the young boys section on this stage featuring Chris Tuttle on keyboards and accordion, Gerry Rose on drums and Jedd Hughes on electric guitars and vocals.
As I wrote before, everybody expected to see two superstars on that stage, but also everybody knew after the show, there was a third superstar on that stage, guitarist Jedd Hughes. He is the best guitarist in Emmylou’s Band all over the years since James Burton and Albert Lee in the Hot Band(sorry for that Frank Reckard and sorry for that Will Kimbrough).
The set list was the usual on this tour, only sometimes the encores were changed.
The first encore included the Songs Stars On The Water, Sweet Dreams and One Of The Days, second encore included She’s Crazy For Leaving and Boulder To Birmingham.
Again, what a magical night.
